In the week leading up to Friday's game against Pittsburgh, UCF Coach George O'Leary stressed how important it was for the Golden Knights to start fast and not make mistakes against the offensively savvy Panthers.
The Knights, after all, entered Friday's game with an 8-1 record under O'Leary when they led after the first quarter.
But bad luck on Friday the 13th struck the Knights early and often against the Panthers to put UCF in a deep hole.First Pitt's Lowell Robinson took the game's opening kickoff back 97 yards for a touchdown. Then on UCF's ensuing possession, QB Steven Moffett fumbled the ball back to the Panthers when he was stripped on a pass attempt.
