Rice 40-UCF 29: Rice cooks UCF's hopes

ORLANDO -- The nightmare that UCF's season has become continued Saturday afternoon at the Florida Citrus Bowl.

Making a second straight bowl game -- UCF's primary goal heading into the season -- is now unlikely following the Golden Knights' 40-29 Conference USA loss to Rice.

UCF (2-5, 1-2 C-USA) needs to win all five of its remaining games against Houston, East Carolina, Memphis, Tulane and UAB to be bowl eligible. The Knights' season-opening victory over Division I-AA Villanova won't factor into that equation.

UCF has given up 92 points in its last two games. The Knights were thrashed by Pittsburgh on Oct. 13, 52-7.
