Tiger Football: Central Florida Week

The only Conference USA team having as difficult a season as Memphis is Central Florida.
The Golden Knights were preseason picks to repeat as East Division champs, especially with a talented offense led by 1,000-yard rusher Kevin Smith and receiver Mike Walker, one of the nation's best.

Instead, they'll battle Memphis in a fight to stay out of the East Division basement.
UCF's problem has been the inability to score at the same pace as it did a year ago. Despite talented players, the Golden Knights are averaging slightly less than 21 points per game in league play.

If Memphis doesn't make any strides defensively, UCF may be able to score on the U of M like most league teams have. Memphis is allowing a league-worst 37 points per game in five C-USA contests and has allowed 400 or more yards in five of its last six games.

Strange to think some thought before the season began this game might have division championship implications.
