ORLANDO - The fallout from the University of Central Florida's disastrous 4-8 season began Monday with head coach George O'Leary demoting defensive coordinator Lance Thompson and firing defensive assistants Miles Aldridge and Peter McCarty.
UCF ranked 106th in the nation (out of 119 schools) in total defense, yielding 398.08 yards a game. The Golden Knights gave up 30 or more points four times and allowed 28.7 points a game for the year.
That was a regression from last season when UCF finished 96th in total defense, and O'Leary felt it was time to make a change.
