When the Patriots open training camp at 8:45 a.m. tomorrow at Gillette Stadium, don’t expect to see cornerback Asante Samuel taking part.

Agent Jay Bianco, an associate of Alonzo Shavers at Infinite Sports Concepts, said it has now become “highly unlikely” that Samuel will report to camp on time. Samuel is still at his home in South Florida, while the “lines of communication remain open,” according to Bianco.

“We’re trying to work out something that’s beneficial to both Asante and the Patriots, so we can get him in there and he can focus on football,” said Bianco. “We want to try to get him in there as close to the start of camp as we possibly can, but he’s prepared to sit out if he has to.” Albert Breer: Boston Herald
