Feely, Prater have a familiar rivalry

Miami PK Jay Feely is not only replacing Olindo Mare, the franchise's all-time leading scorer, but he's also out to settle a family score. The only other kicker in camp is first-year player Matt Prater, who as an incoming freshman at UCF beat out a redshirt freshman walk-on named Ryan Feely, Jay's younger brother, for the starting job.

"It's a little family revenge,'' Feely said with a laugh. "We laughed about it, but Ryan and I had a better laugh about him. He said, 'Good. Get him back for me.' Matt's a good kicker with a strong leg. He just needs to learn the mental aspect of it, not to allow things that don't matter to impact you.''

Prater, 22, tied the UCF record with 50 field goals, and Ryan Feely eventually transferred to Division I-AA Jacksonville, where he became a two-time All-America punter. Ryan Feely, seven years younger than Jay, 31, works for a marketing firm in Orlando and recently worked out for the Atlanta Falcons and Jacksonville Jaguars.
