ORLANDO — The lingering question of whether or not UCF had a viable backup quarterback has been answered with a resounding "Yes."
Sophomore Michael Greco, a former N.C. State recruit who spent last season at Pearl River Community College in Mississippi, has Knight fans excited after his impressive debut last Saturday against Memphis. Greco completed 11 of 12 passes for 151 yards, ran for another 77 yards and scored on a pair of 10-yard touchdown runs in UCF's 56-20 victory.
The left-hander looked like a seasoned veteran after rotating in for senior starter Kyle Israel, who led the Knights to a 14-0 lead, on UCF's first possession of the second quarter. Greco led the Knights (2-1) to touchdowns on four consecutive possessions in the second period.
