While it could wind up being an afterthought should the game become a shootout, the defense has been under the microscope as UCF prepares to host Tulsa's high-powered offensive attack.
A week after giving up a season-high 62 points to USF, the Knights' defense draws the second-ranked offense in the nation in the Golden Hurricane.
One of the biggest challenges for Knights defensive coordinator John Skladany's unit will be stopping Tulsa QB Paul Smith, whom Hurricane Coach Todd Graham has referred to as the "best quarterback in the nation." Skladany's unit is giving up 35 points and nearly 400 yards of offense a game. Tulsa comes in averaging 39 points a game and more than 570 yards of offense. Skladany said there isn't one group that can falter this week if they want to have success containing the Hurricane.
