UCF hopes to get back on track tonight

ORLANDO - Before they can run with the likes of Florida or Florida State -- or South Florida, for that matter -- the University of Central Florida must consistently be able to take steps such as tonight.

Beating Southern Mississippi before a nationally televised audience would reaffirm UCF's place as one of Conference USA's dominant teams. It also could show the program is still one on the cusp of elite status.

Lose this game, and not only could UCF's dreamy 2005 season start to look like a fluke, but lofty goals for 2006 could be in jeopardy as well.
