Team plans to fight through rough 1-3 start

ORLANDO - University of Central Florida senior defensive end Chris Welsh was talking late Tuesday night in a sweaty and somber Golden Knights locker room, but he might as well have been standing in the middle of campus with a megaphone pressed to his lips.

Even in the face of another crushing defeat, this one a 19-14 loss to Southern Mississippi, Welsh was pleading and imploring UCF fans, students and supporters not to give up on a team that has dropped to 1-3 and fallen well short of expectations so far.

"The most important thing is that we need everyone out there to not give up and keep supporting us. We're not about to give up. I think everyone that loves UCF football and supports the direction that we're heading should think that way also."
