Latest loss to Rice is trouble for UCF

ORLANDO - There is no reason why UCF can't field a good football team.

None.

By all appearances, the program should have a lot going for it. Current student enrollment has swelled to a robust 45,000. Alumni are aplenty. The Golden Knights have a former Georgia Tech and Notre Dame head coach -- the latter, if only for a week -- at their helm. They play in a spacious stadium, with a brand new on-campus facility set to open next year.

Yet, once again, UCF is awful.

And there is no reason for this.
