Rice 40- UCF 29: Knights still sleeping

If UCF's blowout loss to Pittsburgh last week was supposed to be the ultimate wake-up call, then the Knights left the field Saturday after their 40-29 setback to Rice still toting the most bitter of realities: the nightmare isn't over.

Since last week's 52-7 non-conference drubbing against Pitt, the Knights' sticking point was that they had six conference games to save their season.

But in the end Saturday, the Knights' hopes to get their season back on track were again overwhelmed by the stench of missed opportunities and the same, soggy defense that has plagued them in 2006.
