Patriots Waiting On The Corner

It's Samuel's Move As Camp Begins

In his four years with the Patriots, Asante Samuel has seen what happens to players who hold out for a multiyear contract. Some get rich and some get traded.

Because Samuel has been tagged as a franchise player, his isn't the typical case of a player seeking a better deal. But it remains to be seen what path the cornerback will take as the Patriots open training camp today - with or without him.

Samuel can show up, hug his teammates and start to earn his $7.79 million. He would do the same as Bears linebacker Lance Briggs, another franchise player who threatened to hold out until the 10th week of the regular season.
