The Orlando Predators are expected to name former longtime UCF assistant football coach Alan Gooch their new team president and general manager this afternoon, a team source with knowledge of the situation said.

Gooch didn't return a message left on his cell phone late Sunday, but the team has called a 4 p.m. media conference today at Amway Arena for the announcement.

A two-time letterman as a defensive back at UCF, Gooch was an assistant coach for the Knights from 1982 to 2003. He served as the team's interim head coach after the firing of Mike Kruczek with two games left in the 2003 season.
