New Orleans — Perhaps the biggest change in Conference USA for the 2007 football season is the general lack of change, and the 12 remarkably similar teams have rooted themselves deeper into pursuit of what will once again be anyone's title.

While C-USA's coaches and administrators were united Tuesday in thinking their league was the tightest in terms of competition, there were some varying opinions on what that means for the future of the conference.

The word from the top, right down to the league's new motto "Competition lives here," is that close games, tight standings and uncertain title contenders are what makes C-USA great.

"We beat each other up," said C-USA commissioner Britton Banowsky at the annual Conference USA Kickoff, touting his league as having better parity than any other in college football.
