Knights tailback has another huge day, provides scare after landing on shoulder
ORLANDO - First, University of Central Florida star tailback Kevin Smith took the breath away from the Bright House Networks crowd of 42,646 with some dazzling running. Then, he elicited a discernable gasp when he couldn't get off the turf following his 33rd carry of the night.
Smith rumbled for a career-best 223 yards and three touchdowns to rise to second in the nation in rushing in UCF's 37-19 romp past the University of Louisiana-Lafayette. But the troubling news for UCF was Smith left the game with an injured shoulder, the same one that ended his season prematurely last year and required offseason surgery.
