Knights grab sole ownership of 2nd in East
HATTIESBURG, Miss. - Coming into Sunday's pivotal Conference USA East Division showdown with Southern Mississippi, UCF knew it would have to play one of its best games of the season to end a two-game losing streak to the Golden Eagles.
The Knights not only posted one of their best all-around efforts of 2007 Sunday night, but with their 34-17 win they got something more important:
They are now in sole position of second place in the East.

UCF (5-3, 3-1) is just a half-game back of East Carolina (5-4, 4-1) for the division lead. So, if ECU loses, UCF would move to No. 1 with a better chance to get into the conference championship game. ECU has the tiebreaker over UCF.
