UCF willing to play non-Saturday games

Back in the late 1980s when the concept of midweek college football games first started to pop up, it was thought of as nothing more than an experiment or a gimmick play.

Even in the late 90s when the Big East Conference and Commissioner Mike Tranghese started to turn Thursday nights into its weekly calling card, cynics still questioned whether college fans would ever truly embrace the sport on any day but Saturday.

Flip through almost any major sports network today, however, and not only is it obvious that midweek games are still around, but there is more competition than ever to get them.
