Knights win East Division

UCF set to host C-USA title game

ORLANDO -- The celebration for UCF was two-pronged Saturday night at Bright House Networks Stadium.

First and foremost, the Knights accomplished their big goal of the season, winning the East Division of Conference USA with a 36-20 victory over UTEP. UCF's sixth consecutive victory allows it to host the C-USA title game next Saturday against Tulsa, a team it defeated earlier this season, 44-23.

In addition, Knights running back Kevin Smith had another monster performance. The junior ran for 219 yards and one touchdown and, in the process, became the first Florida college football player to rush for more than 2,000 yards in a single season. Smith passed TCU's LaDanian Tomlinson for fourth on the NCAA single-season rushing list with 2,164 yards.
