UCF plays for all the marbles

ORLANDO -- Two weeks ago, the prospects for making it to the Conference USA championship game weren't looking very good for UCF.

The Knights needed to win their final three games, plus an East Carolina loss to reach the title tilt. With the way the Pirates were playing, the latter didn't seem likely.

Call it fate, the unlikely all of a sudden seems possible. With East Carolina's loss to Marshall on Nov. 10, UCF once again controls its own destiny.

The Knights (8-3, 6-1) can win the East Division and clinch a spot in the C-USA title game today with a victory over UTEP (4-7, 2-5) in the regular-season finale at Bright House Networks Stadium. Should UCF win, it would host either Tulsa or Houston on Dec. 1.
