Texas native plays well in front of family
DALLAS - He wasn't in his hometown, but he was at home.
The only player on UCF's roster from Texas, Knights' sophomore Phillip Smith, walked into SMU's Gerald J. Ford Stadium wanting to leave with a memory.
Though not so much for him as it was for someone else.

"I just went out there with the mind-set that I was gonna play good," said Smith, a native of nearby Mansfield. "I had family in the crowd. I wanted to play good for my dad."
