Matt Prater was northbound on Interstate 75 somewhere near Ocala, driving his FordF-150 pickup, heading to an opportunity beyond the reach of most athletes -- a shot at making an NFL team.

He's one of two kickers on the Lions' training-camp roster. The other is veteran Jason Hanson, a 36-year-old two-time Pro Bowler and Detroit's all-time leading scorer who has been in the NFL since 1992. (Glenn Miller-FlaToday.com)
