Because in a way that's been the best way to describe UCF's defense this season, a group that has played mostly in flashes and whose best plays have come only in short spurts during 2006.

And though they've improved mightily its past two games, the Golden Knights' defense will face one of their toughest challenges of 2006 when one of the nation's hottest quarterbacks in Pittsburgh's Tyler Palko comes to town Friday.
