ECU in first place in East Division of C-USA

GREENVILLE — East Carolina had a team-defining win with its 20-17 overtime victory over Southern Miss, a team that owned ECU for the past two seasons.

With that over with, Pirates football coach Skip Holtz had a stern message for his players.

“I’ve never seen a football team go to a bowl game with four wins and I’ve never seen a team win a conference championship with three wins,” he said.

The Pirates (4-4 overall, 3-2 Conference USA) rest atop C-USA, sitting one game ahead of Southern Miss.
