Campus facility helps season-ticket sales skyrocket

For much of the past two years, the University of Central Florida has been a maze of orange cones and detours, a patchwork of scaffolds and cranes. But the construction dust has finally settled over the Orlando campus, leaving a sparkling new athletic complex that, in many ways, is the envy of Conference USA.

After announcing in 2005 the construction plans for a new 45,000-seat football stadium and 10,000-seat basketball arena/multi-purpose facility, UCF will open both venues this fall, marking a unique transformation of an athletic department that wasn't even a member of Division 1-A until 1996.

Now, with an entire campus community including dormitories and retail shops sprouting around the new athletic venues, the coaches of UCF's two premiere sports feel they are on the verge of unprecedented national success.
