Vero grad impresses UCF staff

Ronnie Weaver, a Vero Beach graduate, walked on to the UCF football team this fall and has been getting a lot more reps with No. 2 tailback Phillip Smith wearing a yellow non-contact jersey.

"He's doing a good job," starting running back Kevin Smith said of Weaver. "He runs hard and he's tough."

Weaver, 6-foot and 195 pounds, earned first-team honors on the Scripps Treasure Coast Newspapers All-Area Football Team last season. He rushed for 1,110 yards and 12 touchdowns as a senior.
