ORLANDO -- This one could have been played in the Citrus Bowl, the Liberty Bowl or old Crump Stadium.
The venue wouldn't have affected the outcome.
In its Conference USA opener Saturday before 42,153 at new Bright House Networks Stadium, UCF was dominating from the outset, scoring on its first seven possessions and looking every bit the team that nearly toppled sixth-ranked Texas the weekend before. Memphis had no answers for the Knights' blend of speed, power and bulk, aiding the home team with a rash of errors, penalties and breakdowns.
When it was over, when the final seconds had ticked off the clock, UCF had earned a 56-20 victory over the Tigers, possible consideration for a national ranking and an early nod to win C-USA's East Division.
