The Knights will return to the practice field today for the first time this week after Coach George O'Leary gave the team Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday off. The early season bye gave the team a chance to rest for the first time in more than a month with a meeting with No. 4 Texas looming on Sept. 15.

"The No. 1 thing is to get some rest," O'Leary said. "These guys have been going at it since Aug. 1. I'd rather have a bye week somewhere in the middle. [But] You make the best use out of the week any way you can. We've given the players a couple of days off to get their feet underneath them and catch up on same academics."

The offense gained just 38 yards and two first downs in the second half Saturday, with QB Kyle Israel struggling to make downfield throws after starting off well in the first half.
