As his team skipped beside him on the way to the locker room, a 56-20 thumping of Memphis securely beneath its thumb, UCF Coach George O'Leary looked briefly toward the cheers above before dipping his head like an embarrassed child trying to hide a blush.

He didn't smile. But from his subtle nod it was clear O'Leary was leaving the field Saturday afternoon with exactly what he wanted.

A perfect start to the conference season.

A week after nearly stealing the program's biggest win against Texas, UCF entered its Conference USA opener against the Tigers with only one goal: avoiding a letdown.
