GREENVILLE, N.C. - Freshman linebacker Lawrence Young sat alone on the UCF bench, his mouth filled with air and his cheeks bulging as his teammates desperately tried to add a few more meaningless points in a game that had long been decided.

Nearby, senior Leger Douzable stared up at the scoreboard as if his repeated glances could make sense of the 52-38 scoreboard.

But not much made sense in the Knights' lopsided loss to East Carolina on Saturday.
