Marshall's Morris hoping for better homecoming
The big question: Will the result?
Marshall heads to Central Florida to play the Knights in a 3:30 p.m. game Saturday at the new Bright House Networks Stadium in Orlando. Morris and the Herd really hope the game is brighter than the 2005 trip to the Florida Citrus Bowl.
That game was nightmarish for the Herd. Nobody had an inkling that UCF would go on to win the East Division and play host to the first Conference USA championship game. In fact, the then-Golden Knights were riding a 17-game losing streak and were coming off a dismal performance against rival South Florida.
Morris fumbled on Marshall’s first possession and was yanked in the second quarter as the Herd fell behind 20-0. UCF won 23-13, snapping the streak as jubilant students leaped out of the stands to pull down a goalpost.
