Pitt 52- UCF 7: UCF defense a total failure

Click on Willie to read more

In addition to giving up 467 yards, the Knights fail to force a Pittsburgh punt.

UCF couldn't stop Pitt on Friday night.
Not on the opening kickoff.

Not on the Panthers' first possession.
Not on the Panthers' last possession.
Not anywhere in between.
Pitt never punted. The Panthers converted 10 of 12 third downs. George O'Leary, UCF's frustrated coach, couldn't remember another game in which his defense failed to force a punt.

O'leary couldn't remember another game in which his defense failed to force a punt or would not admit to it? O'leary needs to go.

I am as big of a UCF football fan as there is and an Alum. But we all need to admit that last year we simply backed in to the C-USA championship game. There is no football tradition at UCF, unlike for instance University of Florida. Our recruiting class sucks this year. Steven Moffett is a high school quarterback at best. Our defense can't even finish a play (This is a basic football skill called tackling for those that did not know, That includes you 2006 edition UCF Golden Knights Defensive Squad).
I am disgusted by anyone who wants to keep George O'leary as the Knights head coach. That goofy looking cardboard cutout of O'leary we are all so familiar with could do a better job of leading this team. I for one think that the students, the fans, and the alumi deserve better than the pathetic excuse for a football team that O'leary has put on the field this year.
Look I have dealt with the bad and the good out of out boys, My best friend and I were at the last game of the 0-11 season and we stayed til the bitter end of that game. I believe we were the last people to exit the Citrus Bowl that day. I don't care if we have won 2 games this year... Look who it was that we have beaten, 1.)Villanova (They are lucky to have a footbal team) and 2.)Marshall (admit it we got lucky in that game, Matthew McConanahey or not!)

I grow tired of seeing this exercise in futility that we call the 2006 edition Golden Knights Football team. When I hear the fight song at football games I want to laugh, V-i-c-t-o-r-y is our cry. B.S. our cry this year is who was the idiot who thought it was a good idea to sign a resume doctoring, incompentent, ding-dong of a coach to a 10 year extention for backing in to the conference championship game because C-USA had never seen our team before. That was a bit verbose but I am tired of seeing my beloved Golden Knights look like the Golden Showers. I know we will never be able to compete with the likes of UF, FSU, or The U, but does that mean we have to roll over and die every year?

Listen up UCF, it is up to you to put pressure on our football team to win. We all need to back those guys (not the coaches however) and start a tradition of excellence, instead of these clowns who embarass our school on national television. I for one will be wearing a paper bag on my head when ever I don my UCF football attire. I think when we all realize that in Florida football is king and the success of our team could well dictate your degrees being worth more in the long run you would agree with me. O'leary must go... I gave him a chance to make good and he has let me down on a regular basis.

I really dispise going to a bar and requesting them put on the Knights games and then having to hang my head in shame when they get embarassed.
