There’s something about playing Southern Miss on national television in the middle of the week that wreaks havoc on a team’s kicking game.

In Tuesday’s 19-14 loss to the Eagles, UCF was hurt in part by a missed 23-yard field goal by Michael Torres. It continued a bad season to date for Torres, who has failed on three of the four field goals he has attempted in four games.

Tuesday’s miss prompted coach George O’Leary to pronounce Torres’ job on the line.
