ORLANDO - As if the University of Central Florida's sour season wasn't already an utter disaster, Saturday made it official.

There will be no return to the Conference USA title game. There won't be a second consecutive bowl trip. And there won't be a winning record for a team that entered this season bubbling with optimism.

All of those hopes officially collapsed Saturday at the Citrus Bowl when UCF failed to muster much offense, wasted a rare solid defensive effort and lost 23-10 to East Carolina.
