Longtime fans awaiting a new on-campus stadium say goodbye to the field that has been UCF's home since 1979.
UCF ended the season with a victory Saturday, closing the curtains on its days as a team without its own stadium.
This time next year, the Golden Knights and their fans will have a campus stadium and will forgo the 25-minute trek to downtown Orlando's Florida Citrus Bowl for home games.
The wait took almost 30 years. UCF has played all 172 home games at the Citrus Bowl since the program started in 1979.
