The sophomore didn't start Friday but led the Knights with 15 points.

Jermaine Taylor continued his success off the bench for UCF, leading all scorers with 15 points, to guide the Knights past Florida Tech 81-37 at UCF Arena Friday night.

"I think I'm doing what my coach needs me to do," Taylor said.

Florida Tech (1-3) took an early 3-0 advantage to start the game, but UCF (4-0) jumped to an 8-3 lead with a pair of free throws from Lavell Payne. Taylor soon came off the bench to spark UCF's offense with two 3-pointers that helped the Knights gain a comfortable 19-5 lead early in the first half.

Taylor, a sophomore from Tavares High School, scored eight of his 15 points in the first half, hitting all three of his shots.
