Smith surpasses 2,000-yard mark

UCF 36, UTEP 20

He rushes for 219 yards and leads the nation with a season total of 2,164 yards.

Kevin Smith swears all the records in the world don't matter, but he still cradled the game ball in his hands like it was precious.

He was toting the ball he used to eclipse 2,000 yards rushing this season, a feat unrivaled by a slew of other marquee players who have graced Florida football fields.

"This ball is going straight to my mama," he said. "It definitely belongs to her."

Smith, UCF's star running back, didn't stray from his tradition of deflecting praise.
