Israel taking advantage of his chances

HOUSTON -- He hasn't been officially chosen the starting quarterback, but after two straight weeks of playing the majority of the snaps, junior Kyle Israel is starting to look more and more like UCF Coach George O'Leary's choice.

Israel made his second consecutive start at quarterback Saturday for the Golden Knights. And though O'Leary said his performance against Houston was a lot more "spotty" and "shoddy" than it was a week ago, it's hard to argue with how he's inspired a unit that had become stagnant following a 52-7 loss to Pittsburgh on Oct. 13.

Though Steven Moffett did see only three series of action, he said it was because Israel wasn't as sharp as normal.
