UCF came into Saturday's game against Houston in desperate need of a strong performance from its defense to have a chance to save its season.
While the Knights' defense answered the call in the first half, it was dealt another blow early. Sophomore cornerback Joe Burnett, the Knights' leading tackler, was injured on Houston's first offensive series Saturday while trying to assist a tackle.
While the nature of his injury wasn't disclosed, he appeared to have a leg injury as he limped off the field and needed assistance to make it to the sideline.
