Neal making big impact at UCF

It’s hard to imagine where the Central Florida defense would have been without cornerback Johnell Neal last season.

All Neal, a former Redemptorist High School standout, did was become the first defensive back in school history to lead the team in tackles. The 5-foot-10, 177-pounder registered 66 total tackles, including 47 solo stops, and two interceptions.

Yet the Knights were considered among the nation’s worst defenses in the three major categories — ranking 111th in pass defense, 106th in total defense and 101st in scoring defense.
