UCF returned to the practice field Tuesday morning, working out for two hours in full pads during its first closed session of the preseason. With the installation phase now passed, Coach George O'Leary is in the process of setting a more concrete two-deep depth chart.
In that depth-chart evaluation could be some tweaking of the secondary as O'Leary hinted for a need to do something to generate more production there after some less-than-stellar performances toward the end of the fall-camp portion.
Even though there is room for tweaking before the game plan for North Carolina State starts to go in later in the week, junior FS Jason Venson said that overall he thought the secondary ended camp with a high energy level. UCF will travel to face NC State in the opener Sept. 1.
