VBHS grad awarded football scholarship to UCF

Vero Beach graduate Ronnie Weaver, who walked onto the University of Central Florida football team this summer, now will be receiving scholarship money to play, said his mother, Patricia Bradley-Stinson.

Weaver, of Wabasso, has been seeing more reps as a second-team running back, but impressed the Golden Knights’ coaching staff enough to become a scholarship player. The 6-foot, 195-pound freshman earned first-team honors on the Scripps Treasure Coast Newspapers All-Area Football Team last season after rushing for 1,110 yards and 12 touchdowns his senior year.
