Packers give Bigby brief big chance with No. 1 defense

GREEN BAY -- As Green Bay Packers safety Atari Bigby fended off questions about what appeared to be a couple of shaky plays in Saturday's preseason victory in Pittsburgh, cornerback Will Blackmon stepped in to take some of the heat.

"I just want to say, that deep ball was my fault," Blackmon said, leaning in to a group of reporters gathered around Bigby's locker on Monday. "That's all I wanted to say."

The Packers came home with a 13-9 victory over the Steelers in their first preseason game, and managed to do so while resting starting cornerbacks Al Harris and Charles Woodson. Still, the Packers' secondary gave up several big plays -- a continuation of one of their biggest problems from last season -- and Bigby appeared to be out of position more than once.
