The UCF Knights gave the full pads a break Thursday, going with helmets, shoulder pads and shorts for their second workout of the fall inside Nicholson Fieldhouse.

The offense put in a lot of passing formations, including working several sessions inside the opponent's 20-yard line.

That was at times a problem area for UCF in 2006.

Inside the red zone last season, the Knights scored on 36 of 50 opportunities (20 touchdowns), or 72 percent. Their opponents scored at an 86 percent clip.
