Weatherford gets first-team snaps

UCF freshman QB Joe Weatherford got a few reps with the first-team offense to open the team's second full week of fall practice, though Coach George O'Leary said afterward that there wasn't a lot to read into it.

"Offense just had way too many mistakes [Monday], especially at the quarterback position. We can't have that; that triggers your offense," he said. ". . . I want to see both quarterbacks with the first unit. You can't just wait until game week to do that. It wasn't sitting [Kyle Israel] down; it was that we wanted to get the other guy some work in anyway."

Weatherford, whom O'Leary said last week had impressed him with his pocket presence and comfort level for a true freshman, was a little rocky Monday.
