An on-campus stadium is now a reality at UCF
ORLANDO -- Bright House Networks Stadium is a modern-day "Field of Dreams."
The new 45,000-seat facility represents the hopes and visions of a school desperately craving respectability among its peers in Division I, Football Bowl Subdivision, formerly Division I-A.
For years, UCF fans have clamored for an on-campus stadium for its football team, one that would depict the school's efforts to take its place in the upper echelon of the college football world. The Florida Citrus Bowl -- a place where the Knights had played since their infancy as a Division III program in 1979 -- is now a footnote in UCF history.
