ORLANDO - The upcoming opponent could have just as easily been North Texas or Texas Wesleyan instead of the powerhouse Texas Longhorns, but deep down University of Central Florida tailback Kevin Smith says he wouldn't have it any other way.
After all, when you are out to prove yourself as one of the nation's elite backs, what better way to do than by going against the sixth-ranked team in the country? Sprinkle in the fact UCF will also be opening sparkling new Bright House Networks Stadium and ESPN2's cameras will be on hand, and it all has the competitive fire deep inside Smith smoldering in anticipation.
"This is the biggest game of my career," Smith said unequivocally. "I think this is exactly what we needed. We could have played somebody in the conference, but it just wouldn't have been the same. I feel good about playing Texas."
