ORLANDO - In the days leading up to the University of Central Florida's landmark 25-23 upset of North Carolina State, head coach George O'Leary knew something special was brewing for his football team.

He had witnessed just how hard his team had worked through the heat, how it had come together and how it meshed into a unit O'Leary called his most talented in four years at UCF.

Therefore, Saturday night's result -- a dominating start and a gritty, gut-wrenching finish in a defeat of the Wolfpack -- wasn't all that shocking to O'Leary.
