UCF needs the junior cornerback's big plays if it hopes to win in this difficult month.
Back in 2005 when the Knights traveled to East Carolina for their first meeting with the Pirates as a member of Conference USA, UCF was a team still treading water.
Coach George O'Leary's second Knights team was just five games removed from ending a 17-game losing streak, and its surprising 4-1 start to league play had dropped O'Leary's young squad in the deep end with barely a buoy of experience to keep it afloat.
So when the Knights found themselves clinging to a late-game lead at struggling ECU, the idea of one of O'Leary's youngsters saving the day seemed unlikely.
