UCF coach worked for USF assistant
The familiarity in Saturday's meeting between UCF and USF goes beyond the players and into the coaching box.
Saturday's game will be the first time UCF defensive coordinator John Skladany and USF assistant head coach/defensive line Dan McCarney have seen each other on a football field since Skladany coached under McCarney at Iowa State.
McCarney was the longest-tenured coach in the Big 12, spending 12 seasons as the Cyclones' top man from 1995-2006, when he stepped down. Bulls Coach Jim Leavitt picked him up this offseason. Skladany served as Iowa State's defensive coordinator under McCarney from 1996-2006.
